How to cook Sago’t Gulaman Recipe.
Sago’t Gulaman Recipe is a Filipino iced beverage of sweetened sago pearls and diced gulaman (gelatin) with crushed ice. Sago’t Gulaman is a very popular refreshment.
Sago’t Gulaman Ingredients:
- 1½ litres + 3 cups, water
- ½ cup sago pearls
- ½ cup cooked unflavoured red gelatin “gulaman”, cubes
- 1½ cups dark brown sugar
- crushed ice
Sago’t Gulaman Cooking Instructions:
- Bring 1½ litres of water to boil and add the sago pearls for about 40 minutes and stir constantly to keep the sago from sticking at the bottom of the pot. Simmer until the sago pearls turns soft and when the sago looks transparent it’s done. Remove the pot from heat, cover and let set for another 30 minutes. Drain and rinse the sago in running water and soak in a bowl with cold water and let it cool. Cook unflavoured red gelatin “gulaman” according to package, pour in the mold and chill. Cut gelatin in small cubes and refrigerate until needed. In a saucepan, combine 1½ cups dark brown sugar and 3 cups of water. Simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture becomes a light syrup. For each glass put a ¼ cup of cooked sago and ¼ cup of red gelatin “gulaman” cubes. Add a light syrup and top with crushed ice and serve with straw.
